Runaway toy

If you work away from home or travel a lot, try this idea:

Next time you part from your children, take one of your child’s toys (not one of their most treasured ones) with you. Then take photographs of the toy at different places (sitting on the plane; on your desk, the dashboard of your vehicle or other workspace; beside your dinner; etc.) and send them back to your child, pretending that the toy “ran away” to spend time with dad.

Activities:

Share a hobby with your child

Sharing an interest or hobby with your child gives you both the encouragement to create opportunities to spend time together, and gives you a conversation starter.

Activities:

Attend the kids’ sports and other interests

Encourage your children in whatever sport and other interests they have chosen, by attending games and asking them questions.
