Share news of advances in science, technology, and other areas

Share with your children news of advances in science, technology, medicine and other areas, so they can see how the world is changing and the types of things that are likely to be different when they grow up.

  • Talk with your children about the likely impact of these advances
  • Be excited about change
  • Encourage your children to be open-minded about their future – they may end up working in jobs that have not yet been invented!

Tips:

If you are new to FIFO work or lots of travel

Allow time for you and the family to adapt to the new routine.

Tips:

Use the time spent travelling to and from school to listen to your children

Try to carve out time in your schedule to take the kids to school and/or pick them up in the afternoon at least a day or two each week. Use this time together to really listen to your children.
