Teamwork is important in parenting. Having a consistent approach to routines (when to do homework, bedtimes, etc), discipline and social activities helps children have a more stable and predictable home life and discourages them from playing one parent off against the other.

  • Back up your partner’s decisions – if you have doubts about the decision, discuss it later with your partner in private
  • Work with your partner as a parenting team – discuss and resolve issues together
  • Be aware of your own and your partner’s experiences of being parented
