Build contacts in the workplace

Are there workmates or friends who face similar challenges to you as a parent who is apart from their children? Can you develop a discussion or contacts group who share ideas and their experiences?

Having someone to chat to and articulate a problem, or even to share success stories with, can be quite relieving.

Others will also have some great suggestions on activities and ideas that they have tried with their children.

Remove distractions

Put kids’ schoolbags, phones and other “distractors” into the car’s boot for the journey to and from school.

Learn to recognise children’s emotions

Learn to recognise when your child is feeling sad, anxious or frightened, and be ready to listen.
