Give freedom to make mistakes

“My advice to dads is to not be judgemental with their children but give them some freedom.” – Susie Annus, wife of Kim Beazley, former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia.

  • Letting go can be hard, but it’s only when children make mistakes that they can begin to learn from them.
  • The amount of freedom that you give to each of your children depends upon the personality of each child.
  • When you allow your child to fall, you teach them how to pick themselves back up again. This skill will be invaluable to them in their life.

A great tip

It can be difficult to really listen to your kids, and yet it is so important. To know that you are interested in their lives and their concerns gives children the support they need to help them face life confidently.

Be aware of unconscious biases

Teach your children not to pre-judge others by setting the right example.
