Help your child to stay away from drugs

Talking through the issues and supporting your children can help guide them in dealing with drugs.

  • Give your children useful strategies to say no to drugs at parties and other vulnerable situations, or reduce harm from taking them
  • Love, encouragement and listening are much more effective than threats

Activities:

Take each of your children on one-on-one trips

One-on-one trips (no other adults, no other kids) are a valuable way of spending time with your child and showing them they are special.

Tips:

Send messages to say “I love you”

Don’t just tell your kids you love them in spoken words – use a variety of ways to communicate.
