Helping your child handle peer pressure

As kids grow older they are increasingly influenced by their friends, which can create conflict with parents.

  • A good relationship with your child is the best insurance against peer pressure
  • Talk directly about peer pressure – don’t avoid it, hoping it will just go away
  • Teach them useful phrases to use to cope
  • Don’t nag or threaten teenagers too much
