Let kids know your love is unconditional

Your words and actions should always reflect unconditional love for your kids.

  • Don’t confuse unconditional love with trying to be their ‘pal’ rather than their parent
  • Surprise them by doing random, unpredicted kind acts for them (you might find some great ideas on the Acts of Kindness website)
  • Avoid overusing the word ‘but’, eg “I love you, but….”

Tips:

Read to baby

Watch Peter Rowsthorn as he demonstrates the importance of bonding with your baby through reading aloud.

Tips:

Get the lowdown on issues at home before you arrive

If you have been away from home for a while through work or travel commitments, chat with your partner a day or two before you head home to find out any issues – rather than having them dumped on you when you walk in the door!
