Support your children’s education

Take an active interest in what your child is learning at school, and help them in understanding and applying what they learn.

  • Be willing to help with homework (even if that just means asking them questions)
  • Overcome any urge to see your children fulfilling your own need for praise
  • Appreciate that there are different intelligences – IQ is just one of them

Begin a family ritual after work

At least once a week, get together as a family.

Help your child learn how to win and lose well

Whether in team or individual sports, or in other competitive arenas, children (and adults!) need to learn how to win or lose well. How you as a father or father figure behave will help guide your child’s response.
