Many community libraries offer children’s story time and other gatherings for parents of young children. Attend these events with your child if you can, and also borrow books to read to your child or with your child.

Get help if you are not coping

It’s tempting to put on a brave face and give the impression to your family that you are coping well with work, fathering, or other aspects of your life, even when things are not going great.

Respect your children’s carers and the role they play when the children are not with you

Be aware of the pressures your children’s carer (be it partner, ex-partner or otherwise) is under in caring for the children and arrange assistance where possible.
