The trap of big presents

Often fathers want to make up for their absence from home by buying gifts for their children.

Remember that the best gift you can give your children is your time and your attention.

Do not make material gift-giving the standard, and if you do buy a present every so often, do not make it a significant outlay. The best gift would be a craft kit or other activity you can do together.

Fathers appreciate it when their children are excited to see them.

Tips:

Connect with schools electronically

Access your child’s school through their website so you can keep up to date with what is happening. Many schools now offer parent portals where parents can see their child’s results and upcoming assessments, and also contact teachers.
