Do your work colleagues know you are a dad?

Being a dad is part of who you are. It is not a separate component of your life that is hidden away while you are at work.

  • Put photos of your kids on your desk or computer screen at work. Skip the formal family portrait and display fun shots that will evoke happy memories.
  • Bring your children’s artwork to work and display it prominently.
  • Tell your colleagues about your kids, and learn more about their children.
  • Be available for your kids during the work day as much as you can.
  • Bring your kids in to work occasionally.

Dad Trips

Dad trips are a great way to bond with your child or teenager at a one-on-one level, especially if you feel distant from them. Listen to the podcast here on the importance of taking trips together.

Tips:

Use the time spent travelling to and from school to listen to your children

Try to carve out time in your schedule to take the kids to school and/or pick them up in the afternoon at least a day or two each week. Use this time together to really listen to your children.
