More about the event
The Fathering Project recently held a Celebration Cocktail Party for the many fantastic volunteers who assist with the promotion and delivery of our program. The volunteers included board members, principals from our Education Advisory Group, presenters and leaders of the school “Champion” Dads’ groups.
Over 70 volunteers gathered in an outdoor function area in front of the historic UWA Claremont Camps (the old Claremont Teachers College building) to enjoy delicious food and a cold drink.
A warm welcome from Professor Bruce Robinson
The Fathering Project Founder & Director, Prof. Bruce Robinson, welcomed and thanked the volunteers for the great work they do and also interviewed two fathers who are involved in the program.
Brad Pitt (no not movie star!) and Craig Famlonga from Campbell PS, spoke on how the program has already positively impacted their lives and their relationship with their children.
The volunteers then moved into the Kurrajong Theatre to view a “Celebration Video” showcasing the numerous highlights, activities and achievements from 2015.
CEO, Wayne Bradshaw, provided a vision of the future, highlighting the key focus areas for 2016 and beyond including; regional & interstate expansion, on-line delivery & resources, ongoing research and fundraising & exciting new activities. These 2016 opportunities include a special “WA Football League Fathering Project Round” and fantastic Travel Experiences to Singapore, Melbourne, Broome & Rottnest for Dads & kids. Colin West, Schools Manager, presented a range of issues and received constructive feedback from the volunteers on how we could enhance our current programs and introduce new concepts.
And the winner of Heliwest WA’s prize is…
Heliwest WA supported the event and provided a great prize of a Helicopter Ride to Millbrook Winery for two people including a 3 course meal.
The winner was Jason Waller, leader of the Men of John XX111 College group, who is has been instrumental in making their Dads’ group one of the most effective in the state.
The event successfully recognised, rewarded, informed and inspired the volunteers as they launch into what should be another great year for The Fathering Project.
