Dads cook nights: Asian pork mince

What to do with mince? Bolognaise sauce? Savoury mince? What about an Asian mince? Consider this recipe as a base mix. Add veggies or a salad to it, make it as complex or as simple as you like. Pork, beef, chicken or even turkey mince. Your choice!

The best part it only takes about 15 minutes to pull together.

Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
  • 2 ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp white sugar
  • ½ tsp sesame oil

Stir fry

  • Splash of oil
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 500g Pork mince
  • ½ cup shallots

Method

  1. Mix sauce together in a bowl
  2. Heat oil in Wok. Add garlic and onion, cook till onion is going opaque, about 1 minute
  3. Add Pork and cook. Breaking up the mince as you go.
  4. Cook Pork till it changes colour. Add sauce. Cook till sauce simmers down, 2-3min.
  5. Stir through shallots and leave a few out for the garnish.
  6. Serve up with rice. Add the few shallots and maybe some sesame seeds.
