Dads: You matter and your health matters too

Dads: We Get You – And You’re Not Alone…

Being a dad today comes with a unique mix of responsibility, pressure, love, and learning. Many dads quietly carry a mental load that few people ever see.

Between providing for your family, supporting your partner, managing work, keeping up with life admin, and trying to be emotionally present for your kids, it’s easy to feel stretched thin.

But here’s the truth: you’re doing far more right than you think you are.

1. You’re balancing more than you notice

So many dads are constantly switching between roles – worker, partner, parent, fixer, supporter. But in the middle of trying to be everything for everyone, dads often forget to acknowledge how much they’re actually holding together.
Sometimes it’s worth pausing to appreciate your own effort.

2. You want to be strong… But also supportive

Most men want to be a steady presence for their families. You want your kids to feel safe and your partner to feel supported. That’s real strength.
But strength isn’t about holding everything inside; it’s also about knowing when to talk, ask for help, or take a break. Your kids benefit when you take care of yourself, not when you push yourself to breaking point.

3. Presence beats perfection every time

Children don’t need a perfect dad – they need a connected one. Spending meaningful time with your child is what they value most.
Playing, listening, sitting on the floor with them, being silly, being curious, asking questions… these are the moments they’ll carry for life. Even on the days you feel tired or stretched, your presence sends a powerful message:
“You matter. I choose you.”

4. You’re learning a new kind of fatherhood

Many dads grew up in environments where emotional expression wasn’t encouraged. But today’s dads are rewriting that script.
You’re showing your children – sons and daughters – that emotions are normal, conflict can be handled respectfully, and kindness is a strength.

5. Looking after yourself helps you show up for them

Your wellbeing isn’t optional; it’s foundational. When you’re healthy – physically, mentally, emotionally, you have more capacity to love, guide and connect.
Self-care for dads isn’t about indulgence. It’s about sustainability. About staying healthy for the people who depend on you.

This International Men’s Day, we want every dad to hear this clearly:

You’re doing important work. You matter.
And looking after yourself is one of the best things you can do for your kids.

We see you, we appreciate you, and we’re here to support you – every step of the way.
