About Dr Steve Kassem

Dr Steve Kassem completed his Bachelor of Science in neuroscience and psychology at the University of Sydney and subsequently went on to complete his PhD at The University of Sydney and The University of New South Wales, where he was awarded the Peter Bancroft Award for Research Excellence and Most Outstanding Thesis of the Year.

He now works within the Brain Mapping Lab at Neuroscience Research Australia, under the mentorship of Scientia Prof George Paxinos AO, the world leader in brain cartography.

Dr Kassem is currently working to develop the highest resolution atlas of the living human brain – a tool used by researchers and clinicians to test hypothesis on brain anatomy – considered by some as ‘the Google Maps of the brain’.
